NEW DELHI: The Educational Testing Service (ETS) has introduced a new exam pattern for Graduate Record Examinations (GRE), a standardized test that is an admission requirement for many graduate, management, law programmes in the United States and Canada and a few other countries.

The test pattern was tweaked for “better results and reducing exam stress”. The exam duration of GRE 2023 has been reduced from nearly 4 hours to 1 hour and 58 minutes.

As per the new exam pattern, the test is divided into three sections - analytical writing, verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning.

The ''analyse an argument" in the analytical writing section and the unscored section has been removed from the question paper. The total number of questions in the quantitative and verbal reasoning sections has also been decreased.

“The analytical writing section will always be first. The verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning sections may appear in any order after the analytical writing section,” the official website read.

The verbal and qualitative reasoning sections are divided into two. The second part is higher in difficulty level compared to the first part of each section.
