NEW DELHI : The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has allowed students who have passed out from non-accredited courses offered by the Central Agricultural Universities (CAUs) to take admission in accredited agricultural universities (AUs) under the ICAR-AU system during the academic session 2022-23 as a special case. Earlier, such students were not allowed for admission to universities other than CAUs.
“The matter has been examined and the Competent Authority ICAR has allowed such (nonaccredited) passed out students from CAUs (where 100% admission is done through ICAR) for admission in accredited AUs under ICAR-AU system during current Academic Year 2022-23, as a special case and this will not be precedence for the future,” read an official statement from ICAR. The council informed that such students will not be eligible for any ICAR scholarship and fellowship.

The council said that in order to facilitate and secure the future of passed out students with non-accredited institutions , a provision and exception had already been made to treat such students for admission in CAUs, like an accredited entity. “However, such passed out students (non-accredited) are not considered for admission in the other universities/Deemed universities of ICAR AU System,” it said.
ICAR further said that it has been admitting 100 percent students for undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes in two CAUs and most of the programmes or subjects or specialization in these CAUs are being introduced gradually as non-accredited entities.
