IIM Calcutta to conduct CAT 2018 dated November 25

IIM Calcutta is the conducting body for CAT 2018. Confirming the information, IIM Calcutta official said, “IIM Calcutta is the convening body for CAT 2018. Prof. Sumanta Basu, Chairperson Admission, has been appointed as the CAT 2018 Convenor. The exam is scheduled to be held on November 25, 2018.” The official notification is likely to be released in the fourth week of July 2018.

Last year, 2,31,067 candidates had applied for the exam out of which 1,99,632 candidates appeared for CAT 2017. This year too, it is expected that around 2 lakh candidates will appear for CAT 2018. IIM Lucknow had conducted CAT 2017 and Prof. Neeraj Dwivedi was the Convenor.
CAT is a computer-based test of three hours duration carrying three sections, Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DI & LR) and Quantitative Ability (QA). While VARC and QA sections carry 34 questions each, DI & LR section carries 32 questions. The total number of questions is 100. Each question carries three marks and for each wrong answer, there is negative marking of one mark. However, there is no negative marking scheme for non-multiple choice questions (non-MCQs).
CAT 2018 scores will be accepted by 20 IIMs and over 100 B-schools across India for admission to MBA and PGDM/PGPM/PGP courses of 2019-21 batches.
