IIM Calcutta launches executive course in healthcare management

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta’s executive programme in healthcare management will be offered in blended mode.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has launched an executive programme in healthcare management that will be delivered in blended -- offline and online -- mode. Any professional belonging to a medical background is eligible to apply for the course.
The online classes for the one-year programme will start in September 2021. The course will include a 10 day-campus visit and the classes will be scheduled every Sunday.
All applicants are required to have a minimum of three years of experience in the medical sector and should have graduated from undergraduate and postgraduate colleges with at least 50 percent marks.
Medical practitioners and administrators with MBBS/ BDS/ BAMS degree or equivalent recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), or Medical Council of India (MCI) are also eligible to apply.
According to an official statement from IIM Calcutta , “The objective of the program is to develop an interdisciplinary orientation towards management of healthcare and training the participants in managerial leadership. The course also familiarises participants with innovation and entrepreneurship in the Indian healthcare sector and inculcating comparative frameworks in understanding of healthcare challenges in developing countries."
The course has been designed by the faculty of IIM Calcutta and industry experts. Each aspirant has to undertake a capstone project that will require students to work in teams.
Rajesh Bhattacharya, program director, IIM Calcutta said, “The programme is extremely relevant to the healthcare industry especially after the global pandemic that the world continues to witness. The purpose of EPHM is to upskill and prepare professionals for the future in the healthcare sector and enable them with the right knowledge to become better decision-makers.”
