IIM Kozhikode re-appoints Debashis Chatterjee as director

IIM Kozhikode's board of governors have re-appointed Debashis Chatterjee as the director of the institute for a period of 5 more years.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has re-appointed Debashis Chatterjee as the director of the institute for a period of 5 more years. The IIMK board of governors (BoG) chairman A Vellayan, made the announcement on the Annual 25th convocation.
Chatterjee’s current period as director began in June 2018 after IIM Kozhikode became the first IIM to appoint its own Director autonomously after passing of the IIM Act in 2017. Chatterjee was also instrumental in admitting over 50% women in the flagship post graduate programme, which set of a trend among IIMs, who had only witnessed 8-10% women students in more than 50 years of existence until then.

He has been also a senior professor and dean (international relations) at IIM Lucknow and director general of IMI Delhi. Debashis Chatterjee has also taught leadership classes at Harvard University and at the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM), Calcutta, Lucknow, and Kozhikode. Chatterjee has been awarded the Fulbright Fellowship twice for pre-doctoral and post-doctoral work at the Harvard University.
Chatterjee is a also author of seventeen books including Krishna – The 7th Sense, Karma Sutras, Invincible Arjuna and Timeless Leadership. He has also served as Dean of an International Business School in Singapore along with Chatterjee also served as independent director on the boards of several multinational and Indian companies.
Speaking on the occasion, IIMK director Debashis Chatterjee said: “Deeply humbled by the trust, faith and confidence reposed in me by the IIMK Board of Governors. I express my gratitude to the Ministry of the Education, Govt. of India, Govt of Kerala, Chairman, Members of the Board and IIMK community, for the same. The Institute has come a long way in its 26-year journey and together we aspire to go even further towards realising the Vision 2047 for an India which is not just best in the world but best for the world.”
