IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay showcase deep-tech innovations and global partnerships at Bharat Innovates 2026

Indian Institutes Of Technology (IIT) Delhi and IIT Bombay presented a host of technologies and forged new international partnerships at Bharat Innovates 2026 in France. At the exhibition, both institutes highlighted how Indian research is increasingly addressing global challenges while building international collaborations in science, technology and entrepreneurship.

The event was held from June 14, 2026 and will conclude tomorrow, June 16, 2026, jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron and brought together universities, startups, investors and industry leaders from around the world to explore partnerships in deep technology and innovation.

IIT Delhi expands global research partnerships

Alongside its technology demonstrations, IIT Delhi used the event to deepen its international collaborations. The institute signed an agreement with Institut Polytechnique de Paris, Institut Mines-Télécom and Université Grenoble Alpes.

Its technology transfer arm, the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), also entered into partnerships with French organisations, including DDI incubator, Racine ds France and G2i Ventures, to strengthen startup and innovation ecosystems between the two countries.

IIT Delhi also announced a Joint PhD and Joint Master's Programme in Biological Sciences with Sorbonne University and a Joint International PG Diploma in Solar Systems and Management with the International Solar Alliance.

The institute's faculty-led startup CYRAN-AI signed a strategic agreement with French aerospace giant Safran Aircraft Engines to develop AI-powered solutions for automated inspection and predictive maintenance in precision manufacturing and aero-engine operations. It also partnered with Dutch semiconductor company Innatera to build ultra-low-power neuromorphic AI technologies.

IITs showcase technologies with real-world applications

IIT Bombay's pavilion featured a range of technologies aimed at solving pressing challenges in energy, education and mineral exploration. Among them was the Technology Advancement in Next-generation Devices of Energy Materials (TANDEM) project, which is developing high-efficiency tandem solar cells that could shape the future of photovoltaic technology both on Earth and in space.

The institute also presented its Solid State Transformer platform, designed to improve electrical infrastructure and support emerging sectors such as AI data centres, renewable energy systems, battery storage and electric mobility.

Another key innovation on display was DhatuVerse, an AI-powered platform that combines geological and geospatial data to create 3D models of underground mineral deposits. The technology is expected to make mineral exploration more accurate while reducing risks and accelerating the discovery of critical minerals needed for the global energy transition.

IIT Bombay also showcased BharatGen, a multilingual foundational AI initiative that supports all 22 scheduled Indian languages through applications in text, speech and document intelligence. Alongside it was TARA (Teacher's Assistant for Reading Assessment), a voice-based AI platform that helps assess children's reading skills and has already been deployed in more than 1,200 Kendriya Vidyalaya schools.

India-France collaboration takes centre stage

French President Emmanuel Macron highlighted the partnership between IIT Delhi and Sorbonne University as an example of the growing cooperation between India and France in higher education, research and innovation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also acknowledged the contribution of IIT Delhi Board of Governors Chairperson Harish Salve in conceptualising and shaping the Bharat Innovates initiative.

The partnerships announced during Bharat Innovates 2026 are expected to accelerate research translation and create solutions in areas such as sustainability, health, digital technologies, advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence.
