IIT Madras NPTEL launches over 590 online certification courses; Apply by January 31

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a joint initiative of IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is inviting applications for the courses in January 2022 Semester. NPTEL is offering 593 courses across engineering, sciences, management, humanities and social sciences through the SWAYAM platform.
Interested candidates can enroll for free of cost for these courses through swayam.gov.in/NPTEL. The last date to enroll for the first set of courses is January 31, 2022.

An array of new courses have also introduced for the January 2022 term including a course on Hindustani Music, Multidisciplinary courses such as Research Methodology for students in research, Basic Course in Ornithology, Oral Biology for students in Dental Studies, Blockchain and its Applications, and Online Privacy, among others.
Introduction to Machine Learning course is offered in Tamil and Signals and Systems course is offered in Hindi this semester.

Emphasising the increasing popularity of the courses and the NPTEL YouTube channel with more than 52,402 hours of video content and 3.7 million subscribers, Andrew Thangaraj, Coordinator, NPTEL-IIT Madras, said, “In a world predominated by digital technology, online education has gained tremendous popularity in recent years. Given the greater need for virtual communication amid the ongoing pandemic, along with a renewed emphasis across industries on skill development, NPTEL has become a pillar of the open education community. It is an invaluable resource to millions of learners around the world.”
“Over the years, 1.58 Crore+ learners have enrolled in NPTEL courses. The optional proctored certification exam can be taken by learners for a nominal fee to earn certificates from the IITs. The learner has to be present in person for the exam and currently there are exam centers in more than 150 cities across India,” the IIT Madras said.
