IIT Madras to offer free course on ‘Out of the Box Thinking’ through mathematics

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is set to launch a free course on ‘Out of the Box Thinking’ through Mathematics for school and college students, working professionals and researchers to encourage innovative thinking. IIT Madras claims that this is a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, and the institute is targeting over one million school and college students for this initiative. The first batch of the IIT Madras course will start on July 1, 2022. Candidates can register for the course till June 24, 2022, at the IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation website -- pravartak.org.in.
According to a statement from IIT Madras, the institute will offer the courses in online mode for free through the IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, a sec 8 company of IIT Madras. Those who take an examination at a nominal fee along with the course will get a grade certification.

The courses will be taught by Sadagopan Rajesh, mathematics educator and founder-director of Aryabhatta Institute of Mathematical Sciences. The course is focused on multiple approaches to problem-solving and aims to present new techniques in a comprehensible manner, helping learners to deal with real-life projects.
“This course is first-of-its-kind in India and will make a major impact in the days to come. We will see the benefits of this course in next few years. The course is being offered free of cost. It course will greatly benefit the School and College students, especially those residing in rural India,” said V Kamakoti, director of IIT Madras.
