IIT Madras, Rotary to train Class 9, 11 students in cybersecurity
IIT Madras’ Pravartak Technologies Foundation, Rotary District 3232 and FISST Academy will train 1,000 students in cyber security.

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras’ Pravartak Technologies Foundation has signed an agreement with Rotary District 3232 and FISST Academy to train Class 9 and 11 students in cybersecurity. IIT Madras said the initiative is aimed at empowering students with essential knowledge and fostering a safer digital environment.
As per the agreement, 1,000 students will participate in the training across ten batches, each comprising 100 students. The training of the first batch started on March 30 at IIT Madras. It is being held on Saturday. The training program will feature interactive sessions, workshops, and hands-on activities led by seasoned professionals and cybersecurity experts.
Participants will also gain practical insights into identifying and mitigating cyber risks, thereby enhancing their digital resilience. IIT Madras and Rotary are focusing on the following domains:

Enhanced cybersecurity awareness: Equipping students with the knowledge to recognise and respond to cyber threats effectively.

Safe internet practices: Educating students on best practices for secure online navigation and protecting personal information

Data privacy protection: Instilling understanding and practices to safeguard sensitive data and prioritise privacy in digital interactions

Digital hygiene promotion: Encouraging the adoption of good digital hygiene habits to mitigate cyber threats, such as regular software updates and strong password usage.
