Try NowNEW DELHI: There has been an increase in Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE Main) 2021 registration by 1 lakh. The increase in the number of aspirants was recorded after the scrapping of the state-level entrance exam - Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE), according to the Times of India report.

This year, approximately 11 lakh students registered for the JEE Main 2021 including 6.5 lakh registration for the February session and 4.8 lakh for March, May, April session. Overall, the number of JEE Main registration in 2020 was 9.5 lakh, while the number of candidates who appeared for JEE Main in 2019 was 10 lakh.
However, we can expect a slight increase in JEE Main 2021 registrations as the last date has been extended till January 23, 2021. Earlier, the last date to fill the JEE Main 2021 form was January 16, 2021.
NTA has issued the JEE Main 2021 syllabus for students on the official website- jeemain.nta.nic.in. Earlier, a clarification was posted on PIB, JEE Main exam syllabus remains unchanged for 2021 .
“With the candidates taking the exam multiple times, total tests taken is expected to cross at least 20 lakh (considering past attendance) this year, which means as per present estimate the ratio to each unique candidate to number of tests taken stands at 1:1.8 as against 1:1.2,” an NTA official said, as per Time of India report.
This year, with the joining of Uttar Pradesh engineering colleges, it was expected that the number of registrations will increase, the official added.
The NTA official mentioned that the JEE Main 2021 last date extended because of the last moment joining of some technical institutes like Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur, the report added.
The other states that will accept JEE (Main) 2021 scores are Haryana, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Nagaland, Maharashtra and Punjab.
