NEW DELHI: With 20 days left until session 1 of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024, it is crucial for engineering aspirants to revise and strategise for the exam. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting the JEE Main 2024 session 1 from January 24 to February 1, 2024. The JEE Main 2024 admit card and city intimation slip will be available on the official website, jeemain.nta.ac.in soon.

Creating a proper study time table is one of the most important factors to revise and strategize for the engineering entrance exam, said Ajay Sharma, National Academic Director, Engineering, Aakash BYJU’S while sharing tips on time table. The expert tips which include testing, error analysis, and breaks are as follows:

Make morning revision your priority

Morning time is the best time to revise for the JEE Main 2024 exam as the mind is fresh. Start your day by revising the important topics. This will activate your mind and create a strong foundation for the rest of the day. “Also, this enables you to make a balanced biological clock for the final day,” Sharma said.

Test yourselves

Testing is very important to find one’s strengths and weaknesses. Add mock tests or regular tests to your time table. Sharma advises to cover all three subjects in the test for a balanced approach.

Analyse your mistakes

Analysing the errors made in a test helps with identifying the weaknesses and improving. After completing each test, give one to two hours to error analysis and work on rectifying the errors. “If you somehow marked a question correctly but didn’t have confidence while attempting the question, then go through it again during the error analysis. There is a possibility that you could have marked a similar question wrong on the final day,” thinks BYJU’S director.

Revise difficult topics in evening

Keep evening revision for topics you are less confident in and the section you find the most difficult.

Take breaks, indulge in physical activities

Do take breaks in between sessions in order to avoid burnout. Indulge in physical activities during the break to refresh your mind but don’t do exhausting activities.

Divide the subjects smartly

Divide the revision sessions for each subject on the basis of their weightage and your interest as well as capability. Give more time to subjects which require extra attention.

Consistency

Without consistency, preparing a time table would be of no use. Follow your study time table religiously. According to Sharma, “Consistent, focused efforts will yield better results than erratic, intense study sessions. Don’t bother much if you are getting less marks in some mock tests. Just look for the errors and the reason for that low score. But maintaining your calm and consistency is very important in this last month.”

Sleep and diet

Besides creating a time table, maintaining good health is important so try to have adequate sleep for at least seven to eight hours and a nutritious diet. This will assist in retaining information and solving problems.

Clarify doubts, maintain positive mindset

In case of doubts, don’t hesitate to ask from your teachers and peers. Moreover, keep a positive mindset, believe in yourself, and approach every challenge with confidence.

Wrapping up the tips on preparation, Ajay Sharma said, “In the final month leading up to JEE Main 2024, a well-organized study timetable that incorporates strategic testing, error analysis, and targeted revision is crucial. By adopting a balanced approach, prioritizing weaknesses, and maintaining consistency, students can optimize their preparation and approach the exam with confidence."
