JEE Main 2026 LIVE: NTA to issue session 1 city slip soon; complete photo verification by January 15

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is responsible for preparing the JEE Main 2026 question papers. The agency designs the exam content, ensures the syllabus is covered, and maintains the standard and security of the papers for all sessions.

The NTA has not yet announced the release date of the JEE Main 2026 city intimation slip. Candidates can check the slip to know the city allotted for their exam centre for Session 1, which will be conducted from January 21 to 30, 2026. The city slip will be available on the official JEE Main portal for download at jeemain.nta.nic.in.

The National Testing Agency has not yet released the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) 2026 session 1 exam city intimation slip. Once issued, candidates will be able to access the JEE Main city slip 2026 through the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in.

The deadline to upload the attested certificate in PDF format via the link sent to candidates’ registered email IDs has been extended to January 15, 2026. Candidates will also have to carry a printed copy of the certificate to the examination centre for physical verification on the exam day

Candidates facing difficulties in obtaining attestation from their School or College Principal or Headmaster may now submit verification certificates attested by Class-I Gazetted Officers, including Tehsildar, SDM, DM, Revenue Officers, or Indian Embassy officers for NRI candidates. This revision aims to facilitate verification for all affected candidates before the examination.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an advisory for JEE (Main) 2026  candidates regarding mismatches between submitted photographs and identity proof documents. Candidates who registered with identity proofs other than Aadhaar and whose live photographs did not match UIDAI records are required to verify their identity by submitting a signed and attested certificate along with a recent photograph.

The last date to register for the JEE Mains 2026 session 1 was November 27, 2025. Candidates could also pay the application fee until 11:50 PM on that day, and the correction window was available from December 1 to December 2, 2025.

The NTA has extended the photo verification deadline for non-Aadhaar candidates until January 15. The link to upload the certificate in PDF format has been sent to the candidates’ registered email IDs.

A total of 14,75,103 candidates appeared for JEE Main 2025 across both sessions, out of the 15,39,848 who had registered. Of these, 12,58,136 candidates took the exam in the January session, while 9,92,350 appeared in the April session. The attendance rate for the January session stood at around 95.93%.

Scoring 93 percentile in the JEE Mains exam generally corresponds to approximately 95–101 marks out of 300. However, this can vary depending on the difficulty level of the JEE Main exam. In tougher exam sessions, 92–94 marks might yield the same percentile, while easier papers may require higher scores. This percentile typically translates to a rank in the range of 80,000–85,000.

JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in two shifts. Paper 1, 2A, and 2B (3 hours) will be held from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM and 3:00 PM–6:00 PM IST. Paper 2A & 2B (3 hours 30 minutes) will run from 9:00 AM–12:30 PM and 3:00 PM–6:30 PM IST.

JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in multiple modes: Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) entirely online (CBT), Paper 2A (B.Arch) with online maths and aptitude tests and offline drawing test, and Paper 2B (B.Planning) fully online including planning questions.

The NTA has extended the document verification deadline for candidates who uploaded identity proof documents with mismatched or non-Aadhaar photographs during the JEE Main 2026 application process to January 15, 2026. Such candidates are required to submit a signed and attested certificate along with a recent photograph in PDF format through the link sent to their registered email ID.

Candidates may get the certificate attested by their school or college principal/headmaster, or by a Class-I Gazetted Officer such as a Tehsildar, SDM, DM, Revenue Officer, or an authorised Indian Embassy official in case of NRI candidates. A printed copy of the certificate must also be produced at the examination centre on the day of the exam for physical verification.

Candidates can check and download the JEE Main 2026 city intimation slip from the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, using their application number, date of birth or password once it is released by NTA.

• Print a copy to keep it for future reference and verification.
