The National Testing Agency (NTA) is scheduled to conduct both JEE Main and NEET in September after it received the go-ahead from the Supreme Court.
Despite this, students, parents and state governments have protested demanding postponement citing health and safety concerns due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Students also pointed to the lack of transport facilities that will make commuting from their homes to the test centres difficult. Some complained about the difficulties of writing such high-stakes exams with time constraints while wearing masks and gloves.
Chief ministers of seven states and union territories including West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Puducherry have decided to file a review petition against the Supreme court.
