#JEEStudentsWantJustice: Aspirants campaign on Twitter demanding 4 attempts, sufficient gap

NEW DELHI: Disappointed with 2 attempts, clash with board exams and less gap between sessions of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2022, aspirants along with ministers and members of students' union have started campaigning on Twitter using a hashtag #JEEStudentsWantJustice, which has been eventually launched by National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).

JEE Main candidates are complaining of injustice and stress caused due to the decision of National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct only two sessions of JEE Main 2022. Students along with NSUI members are urging Union Education Minister and exam authorities to postpone the 2nd session, conduct 4 sessions and provide sufficient gap between each session.

Anila Bhendia, cabinet minister, Women and child development and social welfare department tweeted: "Reducing the number of attempts of #JEEMains at last moment and conducting it between the board exams without sufficient gap will drive students into frenzy. I also request the authorities to listen the rational demands of students."

A JEE Main aspirant demanded postponement of JEE Main 2022 and a gap of 40-45 days between the two sessions.

A Twitter user asked if students have wings referring to clash of JEE Main dates with board exams 2022.

Another Twitter user said, "All exams are getting postponed then why not JEE Main? Conducting both exams simultaneously, with students having diff centres for diff exams will waste a lot of time in travelling itself, provided with less time from the starting.Will it be justified?"

NSUI member said in a tweet, "JEE Mains is an important exam that determines the future of lakhs of students. Uncertainty pertaining to these exams is a serious matter of concern for all of us. I urge the authorities to be empathetic towards the students of the nation."

On March 30, the Supreme Court allowed JEE Main 2022 candidates to submit representation before the National Testing Agency (NTA) and raise their grievances against reducing the number of sessions from 4 to 2 this year, as per Live Law. A bench comprising Justices DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant and Bela Trivedi said that the Court cannot interfere with the policy decision of the authorities; however, the petitioners can raise their grievances before NTA.
