Jharkhand schools to remain closed from December 26 to 31 amid intense cold

Jharkhand Winter Vacation: Considering the Class 10, 12 board examinations, the concerned schools may conduct classes as per the requirement.
NEW DELHI: Jharkhand government has announced holidays in the state due to intense cold wave-like situation. According to an official notification, all government and private schools in Jharkhand will remain closed from December 26 to December 31, 2023.
The notification further states that considering the secondary and higher secondary board exams, the schools can conduct classes for Class 10, 12 students as per requirement.
"In view of increasing effect of cold wave in the state, all categories of government, non-government aided/unaided including minority schools and all private schools running in the state will remain closed from December 26 to December 31," school education and literacy department notification said.
The minimum temperature in Jharkhand as of Wednesday ranged from 7 to 11 degrees Celsius. The lowest recorded temperature in the state was 6.6 degrees Celsius in Garhwa, Jharkhand, and 7.9 degrees Celsius in Daltonganj. Jamshedpur recorded 10/7 degrees Celsius, while Ranchi saw a minimum temperature of 10.04 degrees Celsius. While Chaibasa recorded 8.6 degrees, Ramgarh and Bokaro recorded 8.5 degree Celsius.

Other states that announced winter vacations
Meanwhile, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir administration has announced winter vacations. Haryana schools to remain closed from January 1 to 15. RBSE has announced winter vacation for Rajasthan schools from December 25. Delhi schools to remain shut from January 1 to 6.
