Download NowThe Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has revised the syllabi for four subjects for Classes 11th and 12th, while the syllabus for 9th and 10th has remained unchanged for the academic year 2026-27.
According to the official JKBOSE notice, the question papers for both regular students and fresh private candidates appearing in the annual exam will be prepared according to the revised syllabus for the affected subjects.
The annual session examinations are scheduled to be held in October-November 2026 for the Kashmir division and the winter zone areas of the Jammu division. Meanwhile, for the summer zone areas of the Jammu division, the examinations are planned for February-March 2027.
JKBOSE Class 11 and 12 Syllabus 2026: Four subjects revised
JKBOSE has revised the syllabus for Punjabi and Physical Education in Class 11, and Education and Environmental Science in Class 12, and all other subjects continue under the existing pattern.
Furthermore, JKBOSE said that there is no change in the syllabi and courses of study for Class 9 and 10 for the current academic year 2025-26 for the Kashmir and winter zone areas of Jammu division, including summer zone areas of Jammu division.
JKBOSE: Implement new syllabus, school inspections
In another official notice, the J-K board added that all affiliated private schools of the Jammu division shall implement the JKBOSE curriculum and prescribed textbooks mandatorily to avoid any disciplinary action under the board’s norms.
Every institution must follow the curriculum and textbooks prescribed by the JKBOSE as per the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education Act 1975, read with J-K School Education Rules, 2010.
According to the JKBOSE notice, inspection teams from JKBOSE are expected to conduct visits to all affiliated private schools in the Jammu division to verify compliance with the prescribed curriculum and approved textbooks. If any school is found violating these instructions by prescribing or enforcing books or materials other than those published or approved by JKBOSE, strict action will be taken. This may include the imposition of penalties as permitted under JKBOSE disciplinary regulations.
