Karnataka primary school reopening decision after expert committee meeting, says CM: Report

NEW DELHI: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that a decision on reopening of primary schools in the state for offline classes will be taken after an expert committee meeting, as per a Times Now News report.
During the meeting, relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions in border areas will also be discussed, the report said.

Stakeholders are looking forward to reopening of primary schools in Karnataka as physical classes have resumed for senior classes in the state, the report said.
After speaking to reporters at Mangaluru Airport, CM Bommai said that students and stakeholders can expect a decision soon after this meeting is held, the report said.
Bommai also said that the expert committee is taking time in arriving at a final decision on school reopening as they are examining the COVID-19 situation across districts in Karnataka, as per the report.
Some of these districts share their borders with Kerala and Maharashtra and therefore, his review of the situation becomes important for everyone's safety, the report said.
The expert committee meeting on Karnataka primary school reopening meeting will be held after Dussehra, the report added.

With the festival coming to an end but followed up by the main festive season, it is possible that a change is observed in the COVID-19 situation in the state. Hence, the meeting would be held after Dussehra in which a decision would be taken on relaxing restrictions in border districts and on resuming classes for primary students, the report said.
