KVS says unauthorised use of KV uniform, logo and identity in videos, films or online content may invite legal action.
The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has issued a public notice warning individuals and content creators against the unauthorised use of its school uniform, official logo and institutional identity in digital or print content. Under the ministry of education, the KVS runs the network of central schools.
KVS said it has noticed several cases where its uniform, name, logo and other identifiable symbols have been used on social media platforms, videos, films and other digital content without prior permission. In some instances, the content has portrayed the institution or its students in a misleading or inappropriate manner.
The organisation clarified that no content creator, filmmaker, production house, digital media agency or member of the public is permitted to use the Kendriya Vidyalaya uniform or clothing that resembles it, along with the official logo, name, insignia or identity of KVS without written approval from the organisation.
This comes after a romantic music video with youths in KVS uniforms dancing went viral on social media.
It also stated that creating content that suggests any form of association with KVS, including advertisements, web series, short videos or other media formats, requires prior permission.
KV students’ uniform, portrayal
KVS further said, “Any portrayal of KVS, its students, teachers, or institutions in a derogatory, vulgar, indecent, romanticised, defamatory, misleading, or unethical manner is strictly prohibited.”
According to the notice, such content can harm the reputation and dignity of the institution and may misrepresent the values associated with Kendriya Vidyalayas.
Posting on their official Instagram account, KVians Official alumni said, “School uniforms represent the identity and integrity of students and the organization. Such usage without proper authorization can create a misleading impression and may undermine the respect associated with KVS…. sincerely urge the KVS administration to look into this matter and take appropriate action to prevent any misuse of the institution’s name, uniform, or identity. Protecting the image of our educational institutions is a shared responsibility, and it is important to ensure they are represented with the respect they deserve.”

KVS warns of legal action for violations
The organisation warned that misuse of its identity could be treated as a serious violation. It said such actions may amount to defamation, misrepresentation or infringement of intellectual property and trademark rights.
KVS added that it may initiate strict legal action, including civil and criminal proceedings, against individuals or organisations that fail to follow the guidelines. This may include seeking damages, ordering the removal of content and initiating prosecution.
The organisation also noted that digital platforms hosting such content could face action if necessary.
Through the notice, KVS has urged filmmakers, influencers, media agencies and the general public to respect the dignity of educational institutions and avoid misusing their identity in any form of media content.
