Students ‘disappointed’ with offline Maharashtra Class 12, 10 board exam 2022

NEW DELHI: Maharashtra school education minister Varsha Gaikwad on Thursday evening announced to hold Maharashtra board Class 12, 10 exams 2022 in offline mode. Apprehensive about the possible Covid-19 infection and Omicron fears, Maharashtra board Class 12, 10 students are demanding online exams.

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) will be conducting 12th board exam 2022 and SSC board exam 2022 from March 4 to April 7 and March 15 to April 18, 2022, respectively. The minister said that the decision to conduct Maharashtra Class 12, 10 in offline mode was taken after consulting with schools, principals, headmasters, teachers and experts regarding the assessment mode and exam schedule.

Maharashtra board students unhappy over offline exam

Tagging Varsha Gaikwad, students said that they were not prepared for offline exams. They also claimed that teachers were teaching “a chapter a day” to cover the Maharashtra board exam 2022 syllabus on time and that the Covid-19 protocols are not being followed in schools.

“I am one of the student of your board appearing in HSC 2022 examination. I want to tell that you can take online classes but why exam not? This your offline exam decision is not in favour to us,” a student said.

Saying that it’s an unfair decision, another student said, “2 years we did online exams and classes and now offline exams. We were giving MCQs. How do u expect us to write exams without practice? We r depressed and scared. Covid is still around. Omicron spreads 4× faster. We are not even vaccinated.”

“Wearing mask in a room taking decisions and meeting online and you all are expecting this from children's to give offline exams. Hum log ki safety kon dekhega ?,” a student wrote on Twitter.

A student also claimed that the Covid-19 protocols are not being followed in schools. “Mam kindly visit our schools once. No protocols and rules have been followed. In a school bus with maximum capacity of 75 students , 200 students are travelling together. Do students don't get affected by Covid-19 or it's variants?”

Asking the school education minister to give a solution, a student said, “Teachers teaching 1 chapter a day to finish the portion as soon as possible without any detail study and everyone expecting us to give offline exams!”
