To boost scholarship approvals, fund disbursal, the Maha government has reduced the scrutiny mechanism to an average of two-level from four-step verification.
The Maharashtra government is all set to launch a new integrated post-matric scholarship portal MahaDBT 2.0 for the academic year 2026-27. Named “MahaShishyavrutti”, the portal aimed to make the scholarship process simpler, faster and transparent for students across the state.
According to the official notice, the new post-matric scholarship system will significantly reduce the burden on applicants by cutting the number of application form fields from over 130 to 65. “Students will also have to upload fewer documents, with key information and records being auto-fetched from government databases such as Aadhaar and the CET Cell,” it read.
Similarly, the government has also simplified the scholarship renewal process , which will be done through pre-filled application forms. Students now only have to update their fee payment receipts details.

Students can track scholarship status online via MahaDBT 2.0
Moreover, the scholarship scrutiny mechanism has been reduced to an average of two levels from four-step verification. The change will boost approvals and fund disbursal , it said.
The new portal will reduce ineligible applications and make the system more student-centric, Maharashtra government said. “The integrated digital portal will consolidate scholarship schemes of various departments onto a single platform, enabling students to view schemes for which they are potentially eligible based on the information entered in their application forms,” it said.
Through the MahaDBT 2.0, students will be able to track their scholarship status online, while the scholarship amounts will be directly transferred to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through online disbursal, as per the notice.
“Income certificates submitted during the first year of study will remain valid for the entire course duration for income-based schemes on the basis of self-declaration,” it added.
The government has also clarified that the students will not be allowed to avail benefits of two scholarship schemes of the same type simultaneously. However, the original eligibility criteria, financial limits, terms and conditions of the schemes will remain unchanged despite the technological reforms.
The new MahaDBT 2.0 also includes detailed procedures, eligibility conditions and user manuals for the scholarship schemes.
