N. Rajendran appointed Alagappa University VC

NEW DELHI, JUNE 1:
Prof N. Rajendran has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Alagappa University in Karaikudi. Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit in his capacity as the Chancellor of state universities has appointed Rajendran for a period of three years.
N. Rajendran will succeed Prof S. Subbiah whose three-year term will end in June 2018. In March Governor had nominated Justice L Narasimha Reddy, former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, as the convener of the search committee to recommend names for the new VC.
He is a Visiting Professor of History at Alagappa University and has authored ‘Tamil Natil Desiyam and Swadesiyam’. Rajendran was also the founder Director of the Bharathidasan School of Management and was a member of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) between 2008 and 2015.
As per the official release issued by the Raj Bhavan, “He is endowed with rich teaching and administrative experience having been a teacher for about 27 years and having functioned as Head of the Department, Dean and Director in Bharathidasan University.”
