NBE extends DNB trainee registration deadline to February 29 for specialty courses

Predict NowNEW DELHI: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has extended the application deadline for submission of self-appraisal by students for registration with the board as trainees. Candidates of DNB Broad specialty courses and DrNB superspeciality courses of 2023 admission session will now be allowed to apply till February 29.

The NBE offers DNB Broad Specialty courses in 29 disciplines of modern medicine. “The self-appraisal is meant for determining the eligibility of candidates for registration with NBEMS as trainees subsequent to their joining at the NBEMS accredited institutions allotted through centralized merit based counseling,” the board said, adding that the facility is only available for candidates who have joined the NBEMS courses from 2023 academic session onwards.
The training institute will conduct the academic teaching and training, including bedside teaching, as per the curriculum prescribed by the board.
After the approval from the institution and the board, a “Letter of Provisional Registration” will be made available for download on a real time basis. Candidates have been directed to go through the guidelines available at Online Portal for Joining and Registration (OPJR) before they proceed with the self-appraisal at OPJR.
The NBE on its official website said that the candidates who have opted for DNB seats for 2-year and 3-year courses will have to register for DNB training in respective courses. However, post MBBS trainees taking admission through NEET PG are registerd for 3-year programmes and post diploma DNB trainees entering through DNB-PDCET are registered for the 2-year programme. “Customarily, they are being called Primary DNB and Secondary DNB trainees respectively,” it said.
