Joint Accreditation Programme

Despite having good infrastructure to offer postgraduate training courses, many hospitals fail to get the accreditation as they fall short of meeting a few criteria. A Joint Accreditation of the hospitals has been approved by the NBEMS to utilize the available resources of hospitals and to provide them with an opportunity to give PG training, the board said.

The joint accreditation programme has been implemented with an objective of resource utilization, case load and case mix distribution, upscale the quality of training programme, and financial sharing. The scheme will be applicable only to broad specialty DNB courses. The programme allows four types of collaboration:

  • Government hospitals to government hospitals.
  • Private to Government hospital
  • Private to Private hospital
  • Standalone imaging, diagnostic lab centres along with a hospital.

As per the eligibility criteria, each of the two participating hospitals or institutions should have a minimum of 90 beds. The case load and faculties of both the hospitals will be clubbed together, it said.
