NEET 2020: Kerala government releases exams guidelines, says report

NEW DELHI: Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Kerala, has started its preparation for conducting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), scheduled to be held on September 13, 2020. As per the reports by the New Indian Express , in respect of the preparations, the respective authorities have released the advisory exam day guidelines notice to conduct the NEET exam in the state.

The health department of Kerala does not want to make any mistakes that earlier happened after conducting the Kerala Engineering Architectural Medical (KEAM) exam on July 16, 2020. In order to stop the COVID-19 infection transmission, authorities have issued certain necessary NEET exam guidelines that are mentioned below.

Guidelines for students to conduct NEET 2020

• NEET aspirants coming from abroad or other states to appear for the medical entrance test should stay in-home or institutional quarantine for 14 days from their time of arrival in the state.

• Parents accompanying the aspirants should also be quarantined for 14 days.

• Students or parents can seek the exemption from the institutional quarantined by submitting the negative RT-PCR test report on arrival.

• Aspirants must note that the test should have been conducted 96 hours prior to undertaking the journey.

• Students coming from the contaminated zone to appear for the exam will be allocated a separate exam centre or classroom to appear for the examination.

• A minimum of two field-level health care workers (One for male, one for female) will be posted at each NEET exam centre in Kerala.

• The exam centres authorities in charge will be directed to make all necessary infrastructure arrangements in respect of following social distancing norms in consultation with the health department.

What happened after the KEAM exam?
The Kerala state government was faced with criticism by the Opposition parties for holding the KEAM exam despite the high prevalence of COVID-19 cases in the state. As many students were tested COVID-19 positive among 88,000 students, who appeared for the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) examination . A case was filed for not adhering to the COVID-19 health protocol in public space.
