NEET 2020 on July 26; 16.84 lakh applicants informs Education Minister

NEW DELHI: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admission to medicine will be held on July 26, 2020.
Human resource development minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, announced the exam date during a live session with students on Twiter and Facebook.
In his session, where he answered queries from students, Pokhriyal spoke about all major exams and school and university admissions. It put an end to speculation over exams dates. Pokhriyal also informed that 16.84 lakh applicants have registered for the national level medical entrance examination. The minister's live session was trending at number one on Twitter.

Recents events of NEET 2020

The correction window of NEET closed on May 3, 2020. This time candidates were also able to make changes in the exam centre selected by them without paying any additional fee. This was for the third time that the National Testing Agency (NTA) opened the correction window facility for registered candidates.

Upcoming NEET event

Next and major upcoming event is the release of NEET admit card, which is the hall ticket for candidates for entry to the examination centre. Candidates must visit the official website of NTA (nta.ac.in) and NEET (ntaneet.nic.in) regularly for all exam related events.

Advice to candidates

Pokhriyal advised candidates to stay calm and keep up with their preparations for NEET 2020. He says ‘in this situation of pandemic it is important that candidates keep their calm and continue with their preparations’. Also, he informed candidates about a significant number of online preparation platforms form where they can get content since coaching institutes are closed.

Advice to parents

A candidate expressed how she is being troubled by her parents to continue studying the same thing on repeat. Addressing this concern, Pokhriyal advised parents to not make a mental pressure on students in this situation as they are already in a lot of confusion and panic. He also advised candidates to remain motivated. He says, ‘I advise parents to not trouble kids with anything they must make sure that kids are at complete mental ease.’

Different online study options and schemes

The Minister also spoke about a variety of online study options and schemes rolled out by the ministry which include Swayam Prabha television channels, DIKSHA and SWAYAM, the ministry’s online learning platform.

These provide preparation content for students pursuing different levels of education.

The webinar puts to bed all confusion over dates. Unlike in other academic years, the 2020 candidates also get more time to prepare for NEET than usual.
