NEET PG Results 2024: Calculation of marks
NEET PG 2024 marks will be normalized and converted into percentile scores, on the lines of the normalization process used by AIIMS. A percentile score indicates the percentage of the candidates who have scored equal or less than the specific percentile in the exam. The percentile score will be calculated up to seven decimal places to avoid bunching effect and reduce ties between two candidates.
“Therefore, the topper (highest score) of each group (shift) will get the same Percentile of 100, which is desirable. The marks obtained between the highest and lowest scores are converted to appropriate Percentiles,” read the AIIMS normalization document.
The step-by-step process for normalization and preparation of merit list is as follows:
- Distribution of examinees in multiple shifts : Candidates would be allotted into different shifts randomly in a way that these groups are approximately equal in number. This step will ensure that there is no bias in the distribution of candidates who took the examination.
- Preparation of results in each shift : The results will be prepared in the form of raw scores, percentages, subject-wise percentiles and total percentile. The total percentile will not be an average of the percentile of individual subjects.
