Download nowNEW DELHI: The National Eligibility Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 results, announced on August 23, have led to significant dissatisfaction among candidates, particularly those who took the exam during the second shift on August 11. Many of these students are reporting unexpectedly low ranks and questioning the transparency of the results.
Students raised eyebrows on the fairness of the NEET PG 2024 exam while asking if the normalization of scores was actually implemented. Notably, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) didn’t release the cut-off scores along with the NEET PG result 2024, only the qualifying percentile and a list of candidates with their ranks and roll numbers.
The NBEMS had previously stated that the normalization process used by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) would be applied to NEET PG 2024 result , as this was the first year the exam was held in two shifts.
NEET PG 2024 result: Candidates demand raw marks
PG medical aspirants have taken to social media to demand the disclosure of raw scores obtained by candidates. They argue that this transparency is necessary to verify the fairness of the normalization process and to understand how their final ranks were determined.
An MBBS final student called out NBEMS for “hiding marks” and said in a post on X (formerly Twitter), “Most of the aspirants of NEET PG 2024 of second shift has got unexpected rank despite tough paper. Hiding marks and showing only percentile raises ques in the transparency of the result.
A medico termed the NEET PG exam a scam and wrote, “Results are highly unexpected. Doctors who attended the second shift exam got their ranks so low from the last attempt even with preparation.”
An MBBS intern at Government Medical College, Chandigarh wants NEET PG 2025 to be conducted in a single shift and rank based on marks, not percentile. “It’s not a tough task as only 2-2.5 lac candidates are there. No need to complicate things,” the medical student said.
A PG Paediatrics student posted, “Has the NEET PG result too been rigged just like NEET UG? Many of my friends have got ranks very different from what they expected. Yes, there may be calculation errors on their part but we can never trust the NBE with anything considering their track record.”
