NEET Protest: Bihar, Assam govts to withdraw cases after CJP’s ultimatum

Try NowThe Bihar and Assam governments have announced to release the NEET protesters and withdraw all cases registered in connection with the recent agitation against exam paper leaks. The decision comes hours after the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced that it would resume its nationwide sit-in if the Centre failed to withdraw cases against protesters, Indian Express reported.
The BJP government in West Bengal has not given any official notice to withdraw the charges against the NEET protesters yet, as per the report.
According to the Bihar Police, a total of 694 people were detained for enforcing the Bihar bandh on July 25, and the police released 339 minors, so the rest 335 were booked under relevant laws, PTI reported.
No FIRs have been registered. None will be: CJP
While there were five registered cases in Assam, and 13 people were held during the NEET protests . The Assam government has also announced to withdraw these cases and also announced that no further action would be taken against the individuals involved in the paper leak protest, as per the report.
The withdrawal announcement was made public by Saurav Das, CJP chief spokesperson, through his X account. He wrote: "Next up, Assam Government guarantees release of all arrested protesters, no FIRs or action in future, and withdrawal of all existing FIRs."
Furthermore, in another post, Das wrote: "After Bihar and Assam notifications, we have just been guaranteed that no authority will proceed against protesters in Rajasthan. No FIRs have been registered. None will be. We are continuously working to ensure all other risky BJP/NDA states release notifications in the required language in the protester's interest. We will never let any youth fight this alone!"
He also informed that the government officials have conducted a meeting for nearly 2-3 hours with the CJP party leaders.
The Centre showed copies of the Bihar and Assam notices regarding FIR withdrawals, no action in future, and release of all detainees and arrestee, Das added.
