Try NowThe National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued fresh guidelines on biometric verification for candidates appearing in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG 2026) re-examination scheduled to be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
As part of the enhanced security measures introduced for the re-exam, candidates will have to complete biometric verification after the mandatory frisking process and before entering the examination hall. This step is compulsory and must be completed before the test begins.
The verification process will involve fingerprint and facial recognition checks. However, NTA has clarified that candidates will not be denied entry if the biometric process cannot be completed due to technical or other genuine issues.
NTA outlines exception process
According to the notice, candidates may face difficulties in biometric verification because of device malfunction, poor-quality biometric data, connectivity issues with UIDAI servers, or a physical inability to provide biometric details. In such situations, they will still be allowed to appear for the examination.

These candidates will, however, need to submit a written undertaking at the examination centre. The required format will be made available by the centre superintendent.
NTA also emphasised that no candidate will be disturbed during the examination for biometric processing. If necessary, the process will be completed either before the test starts or after it ends.
Exam schedule and important instructions
The re-examination will be conducted from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. Candidates who are eligible for compensatory time under the PwD/PwBD category will be allowed to continue until 6:20 pm. The agency said all examination-related formalities will be carried out as per the prescribed procedures.
NTA has asked candidates to cooperate with examination staff and security personnel during the verification process. It further warned that refusing biometric verification without a valid documented reason would be considered a violation of examination rules and could attract action under the public examinations (prevention of unfair means) act, 2024.
