Based on the latest NIRF 2025 rankings, here are India’s top 20 medical colleges that NEET aspirants can aim for.

Register NowIndia’s top medical colleges continue to be the most preferred destinations for candidates qualifying the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) . Every year, lakhs of aspirants compete for a limited number of seats in these premier medical institutions across the country. This year, the NEET UG exam will be conducted on May 3 in a single shift from 2 pm to 5 pm, and candidates can target leading colleges based on national rankings and prepare accordingly.
These rankings are prepared under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), which evaluates higher education institutions in India on key parameters including teaching quality, learning resources, research output, graduation outcomes, outreach activities, and overall perception. Based on the NIRF Rankings 2025, we have compiled a list of the top 20 medical colleges in India that NEET aspirants can aim for while planning their medical journey.
NIRF India Rankings 2025: Medical Colleges
All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS New Delhi continues to hold the top position with a score of 91.80 and rank 1. Renowned for its world-class infrastructure, advanced research facilities, and central location, AIIMS Delhi remains the first choice for top NEET qualifiers. It is followed by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, ranked 2 with a score of 82.58, widely recognised for excellence in postgraduate medical education and super-specialty training.
The Christian Medical College, Vellore secures rank 3 with a score of 76.48, making it one of the leading private medical institutions in India. At rank 4 is the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, which scored 73.30 and continues to be a top choice for medical aspirants due to its strong academic and clinical training framework.

NEET UG 2026
NTA conducts NEET UG for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS and other allied courses. The exam will be held on May 3 in a single shift from 2 pm to 5 pm and will follow an MCQ-based pattern with 180 questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology, for a total of 720 marks. Counselling for qualified candidates will be conducted based on All India Rank. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) handles AIQ, central universities, and deemed universities, while state authorities conduct counselling for state quota seats, ensuring admissions as per merit and reservation rules.
