NIRF Ranking 2021: AIIMS Delhi tops NIRF medical college ranking again, PGIMER is second
NIRF Ranking 2021: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi has clinched the top spot for the fourth consecutive year from 2018 to 2021.

NEW DELHI: All India Institute of Medical Sciences, or AIIMS Delhi, is the best medical college according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) medical college ranking 2021 released on Thursday.

AIIMS, Delhi has been at the top of the list ever since the medical category was introduced in the NIRF India ranking 2018. Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh took the second spot while Christian Medical College, Vellore has been ranked third in this year's education ministry’s NIRF rankings under the medical category. Like AIIMS-Delhi, PGIMER, Chandigarh and CMC Vellore have also maintained their position in the NIRF ranking ever since 2018. This year, a toal of 50 medical colleges have been ranked in NIRF for medical colleges.

Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Udupi displacing Maulana Azad Insitute of Dental Sciences emerged as the country’s topmost in NIRF dental college ranking 2021 followed by D Y Patil Vidyapeeth in the second position, while Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai ranked third. Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences has slipped to fourth position this year. The dental ranking in NIRF 2021 was launched for the first time last year at the specific request of the Dental Council of India.

Jamia Hamdard University once again emerged as India's best pharmacy college in the NIRF pharmacy ranking 2021. The second position is held by Panjab University, while the Birla Insitute of Technology and Science bagged the third position. The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Mohali slipped from third spot from last year to fourth this year.
Aspirants who wish to take admission in NIRF top medical colleges at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels have to qualify for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET 2021) . NEET UG 2021 will be held on September 12, 2021. NEET 2021 admit card was released on September 6, 2021.

NIRF 2021 Dental College Ranking
This year's top three dental colleges, Manipal College of Dental Science, Udupi, D Y Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai have improved their position from last year's NIRF Ranking. One of the most prestigious dental colleges, Maulana Azad Insitute of Dental Science slipped to the fourth position while King George Medical University, participating in the NIRF 2021 ranking for the first time was bagged the fifth position. A total of 117 dental colleges were ranked in NIRF 2021.

NIRF 2021 Pharmacy College Ranking
The top two pharmacy colleges as per the NIRF 2021 rankings have retained their position for the third consecutive year from 2019 to 2021. Birla Insitute of Technology and Sciences (BITS), Pilani climbed up to the third position displacing the National Insitute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Mohali from last year's rankings. A total of 351 pharmacy colleges have been ranked this year in NIRF ranking pharmacy 2021.

NIRF 2021 Ranking
While the ranking is released in April every year, it got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Owing to COVID-19 restrictions, the NIRF ranking was released by education minister Dharmendra Pradhan in online mode where the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras emerged as the top institute in India. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and IIT Bombay were ranked second and third respectively in the overall NIRF ranking 2021.
Under the education ministry's ranking framework, higher education institutes across the country are assessed on various parameters including teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcome outreach and inclusivity, and perception. The rankings have been released for a total of 11 categories – overall, universities, engineering , colleges, management , pharmacy, medical, architecture, dental, law and the newly added category research institutions.
