Medical college inspections: NMC invites government faculty to join assessor pool

The MARB carries out inspection of colleges in accordance with the MARB regulations made under NMC Act 2019 to ensure and improve the quality of medical education in India.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has invited the government medical college faculties to be part of the assessor pool for the inspection of medical institutions. The Medical Assessment and Rating (MARB) will begin the inspection process for the academic year 2026-27 in due course.

Faculty from various undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) medical colleges will be engaged as assessors for conducting inspections , the NMC said in an official statement.

“The same group of assessors may be used for any additional inspections conducted by MARB other than UG and PG applications,” the NMC added.

The MARB carries out inspection of medical colleges in accordance with the MARB regulations made under NMC Act 2019 . The inspection is conducted to ensure and improve the quality of medical education in India.

'Pool of assessor may also be used for scrutiny of medical document'

Eligible faculty must fill a Google form by January 6, 2026 to apply for the assessor pool. The form is being submitted to seek their willingness to become associated with NMC for the task of conducting inspection of medical colleges from time-to-time.

“It will be the responsibility of all Dean/Principals of all Government Medical Colleges to share this communication with each eligible faculty by way of personal circulation and displaying on College Notice Boards,” the NMC said.

Notably, the pool of assessors may also be used as experts for evaluation, scrutiny of documents of the medical colleges.

“The travel time for the inspections, as well as the day of inspection, will be treated as on duty. The travel and lodging expenses and remuneration will be borne by the NMC,” it added.
