NEW DELHI: Republic Day is celebrated every year on January 26 in India to honor the day when the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950. The event marked the transition of India into a sovereign, democratic republic. Various schools and institutions organise flag hoisting, cultural programmes, parades, competitions, and speeches to celebrate the Republic Day.
Like every year, the parade marches of regiments of Army, Navy, and Air Force and tableaux from all states signifying their cultures will be displayed from the Rashtrapati Bhavan on the Kartavya Path to India Gate and from there to Red Fort.
On the eve of Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu will address the nation, which will also be broadcast from 7 pm on the entire national network of Akashvani and all channels of Doordarshan in Hindi followed by the English version.
The first President of India Dr Rajendra Prasad unfurled the first Indian national flag, which marked the Indian Republic day.
