School education minister issues primary education report, aims for quality improvement

NEW DELHI: Madhya Pradesh school education minister Uday Pratap Singh issued the state's primary education report at the Mantralaya outlining progress and future goals. The report has been prepared on the basis of data till December 2023 and assesses the performance of districts at the primary level.

According to the report, the ranking of Sidhi district has witnessed a significant improvement. The district jumped from 46th to 12th position while Sheopur district witnessed a decline in the ranking. Sheopur district is ranked 45th this year, slipping from 22nd position last year.

This report has been prepared on the basis of enrollment retention of children, learning outcome quality, teacher professional development, equality, infrastructure facilities, good governance processes, financial management and the Navbharat literacy programme.

State school education minister Uday Pratap Singh emphasised the importance of the report in guiding improvements, highlighting initiatives like the ‘Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan’ and special cards for nomadic families' children to ensure uninterrupted education.

Focus on quality primary education

The report highlights the Madhya Pradesh government's focus on improving primary education through various initiatives as some districts have shown progress while others need more attention.

Regarding the provision of uniforms for children studying in schools, the minister said that the work of making uniforms in 22 districts of the state is being done through self-help groups, while in other districts the amount to purchase uniforms will be transferred directly to their bank accounts.

He also mentioned the opening of ‘CM Rise School’ and ‘PM Shri School’ to provide world-class facilities to the students. Free textbooks will be distributed on time, and efforts are underway to reduce student dropouts through improved communication between parents and teachers.
