Download nowNEW DELHI: The Telangana NEET PG 2024 aspirants have written to the Chief minister, the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), and the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), seeking immediate intervention to resume the state’s PG medical admission process.
This comes in the wake of the Telangana High Court’s decision to scrap the state’s domicile admission policy , which has caused delays in the counselling process. The case is now pending before the Supreme Court, with the next hearing scheduled for January. However, counselling activities have not been stayed.
In their letter, the students highlighted the challenges they face due to the delay in releasing the Telangana NEET PG 2024 counselling merit list, seat matrix, and prospectus. They also pointed out that while two rounds of All India Quota (AIQ) counselling have been completed, Telangana has yet to begin its state round 1 counselling 2024.
Telangana NEET PG Counselling 2024: Concerns raised by aspirants
The delay in Telangana NEET PG counselling 2024 has sparked a series of grievances among aspirants. As per the letter, their concerns revolve around procedural inefficiencies, missed opportunities, and delay in decision making. Below are the key issues regarding Telangana NEET PG counselling 2024 raised by the aspirants:
-
Absence of Telangana NEET PG 2024 merit list and information bulletin: The letter highlighted that aspirants are unable to make informed decisions about resigning AIQ seats allocated in round 2 due to the unavailability of the Telangana state merit list and clarity on eligibility for state round 1. The resignation deadline for AIQ round 2 is December 26.
-
Monetary and emotional strain : Many students have taken up AIQ seats far from their hometowns or compromised on their preferred branches, leading to financial strain and emotional distress.
-
Lack of sliding opportunities: Unlike previous years, the delayed state counselling process may not allow for sliding between state rounds, further disadvantaging aspirants, as per the letter.
-
Request for delay in AIQ round 3: Drawing parallels with states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, where delays due to court cases were addressed with special provisions, Telangana students have requested the MCC and NMC to postpone AIQ round 3. They also seek an extended resignation period post-state round 1 results.
