Shoolini University develops telemedicine device to enhance healthcare access in rural areas

NEW DELHI: Shoolini University has developed a telemedicine device for health care management through a real-time data tracking system. The device is designed for health monitoring, particularly in rural and remote areas with limited access to hospitals, as per the official statement.

The new model combines virtual consultations, prescription services, doorstep medicine delivery and health data tracking. Developed by the researchers at the Shoolini University, the invention was led by Ramanujan, research associate and PhD scholar; Anitya Kumar Gupta, alongside SRP biotechnology students Aditi Kulshreshtha and Sataditya Jana.

"Our telemedicine device represents a major leap in leveraging technology to bring accessible and efficient healthcare to underserved areas," said Gupta.

Ramanujan said: “Its ability to integrate health monitoring, virtual care, and cryptocurrency incentives is set to transform how patients manage their well-being, particularly in rural communities."

Notably, the device also has a “unique” cryptocurrency incentive system in alignment with the health progress of users.

How does the device work?

The medically-driven device integrates critical health data, including physical and mental health metrics such as blood pressure and sugar levels, through advanced sensor technology.

It can also be linked with smartphones and smart watches, providing real-time health report. “A user-friendly questionnaire helps assess overall health, followed by real-time data analysis. The system can detect early symptoms of diseases such as diabetes, ensuring timely notifications to both patients and doctors,” the university said.

Cryptocurrency feature to earn Dogecoins

The device is also installed with a cryptocurrency incentive system. Users can earn Dogecoins by maintaining good health stats, such as high number of steps or maintaining health hydration.

Notably, users also get access to virtual appointments. “Post-consultation, it automates prescription fulfillment using a Large Language Model (LLM), sending prescriptions directly to local pharmacies for medication delivery,” the university added.
