Jamia Millia Islamia adopts SWAYAM courses under NEP 2020, conducts exams for 20,000 students and completes admissions for 280+ programmes.
Jamia Millia Islamia has integrated SWAYAM courses into its academic curriculum and examination system for the first time in line with the NEP 2020, officials said on Monday. The university also completed its end-semester examinations and admission tests for more than 280 academic programmes in a record time, they added.
The university said the integration of Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) courses was among the key academic reforms introduced, alongside the incorporation of multiple-entry provisions envisaged under the New Education Policy. The end-semester examinations for over 280 undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate programmes were conducted between May 2 and May 25, with around 20,000 students appearing for the exams, it further said.

The Office of the Controller of Examinations also declared nearly 800 examination results within the stipulated timeline after issuing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for students and faculty to ensure timely evaluation and submission of answer scripts.According to the university, the timely declaration of results and issuance of grade sheets and provisional degrees enabled students to apply for higher education and employment opportunities without delay. The university also completed admission tests for over 280 academic programmes for the 2026-27 session, besides conducting entrance examinations for PhD programmes and the Residential Coaching Academy's Civil Services Coaching Programme.
More than one lakh applications were received for admissions to undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate programmes. Admission tests were held in 16 cities, including Delhi, Lucknow, Patna, Srinagar, Jammu, Jaipur, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bhopal, Dehradun, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ranchi. Admissions to 25 programmes will be based on CUET-UG scores, while BTech and BArch admissions will be through JEE (Main) 2026 and NATA 2026 rankings, respectively, officials said.
Admissions to the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP BEd) will be based on NCET 2026. The university said the process of declaring admission results has already begun. Jamia also conducted admission tests for its schools for Classes VI, IX and XI in five cities, receiving more than 53,500 applications. Controller of Examinations Ahteshamul Haque said the university was able to conduct end-semester examinations and admission tests almost simultaneously through meticulous planning and optimal utilisation of resources.
He said additional security measures, including the deployment of metal detectors at all admission test centres, were introduced this year to prevent impersonation and other unfair practices. Vice-Chancellor Mazhar Asif said the timely completion of examinations, admissions and result declarations would contribute significantly to the university's academic planning and future growth.
