Download NowThe Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has extended the phase II admission schedule for first-year Intermediate courses for the academic session 2026-27. The extension till July 31 comes following the declaration of the SSC advanced supplementary examination results. Students are being provided with another opportunity to secure admission in junior colleges across the state.
In a circular issued to principals of all affiliated junior colleges, Telangana board directed institutions to complete admissions following the reservation policy and existing admission guidelines. It instructed colleges to strictly follow the prescribed reservation norms for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), physically handicapped candidates, NCC, sports and extracurricular categories, and ex-servicemen.

Reservation for girls
The board announced to reserve one-third of the total seats for girls in areas where separate colleges for them are not there. Admissions would be granted solely on the basis of Grade Point Average (GPA), subject-wise Grade Points (GP), or qualifying examination marks, as applicable.
Junior colleges have been refrained from conducting any admission tests and if they do so, strict action would be taken against institutions violating the prescribed admission norms.
TGBIE has also directed private unaided junior colleges not to exceed the sanctioned intake or open additional sections without prior approval from the board. Colleges have been instructed to prominently display details of sanctioned sections, filled seats and vacant seats at the entrance and update the information daily. The circular also prohibits misleading advertisements or inducements during the admission process.
Among other instructions, the board made it mandatory for colleges to obtain Aadhaar details from students seeking admission. Colleges must ensure implementation of anti-drug declaration by students and parents, provide adequate safety measures for girl students, and comply with provisions related to foreign national admissions under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Candidates seeking admission after a gap period must also submit the required residential or local candidate certificate issued by the Tahasildar. The board has appealed to students and parents to take admission only in TGBIE-affiliated junior colleges.
