TN govt directs schools, higher education institutions to stop students from participating in CJP protests

The Tamil Nadu government has directed the school education department, higher education department, TN Police and district administrations to take action to prevent students from participating in protests, organised by the left parties and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

The directorate of college education, in its official letter to the principals of government arts and science colleges, asked the college authorities to take “joint action to prevent students from participating in protests organized by left parties and the CJP.”

“It has been informed that inter-departmental communication and coordinated joint action should be taken between the departments of school education, higher education, police and district administration to prevent the participation of students and youth,” the official letter read.

'Submit details of action taken to stop students' participation'

The government has also asked the educational institutions to submit details of the action taken to the given order to prevent students from taking part in the CJP and left protests.

The official letter was signed by Cynthia Selvi P, joint director for the commissioner of college education.

Furthermore, on August 2, C Joseph Vijay, chief minister of Tamil Nadu said in a social media post that the cases registered against students who had protested against NEET will be withdrawn.

"As per the directions of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, all cases registered against students who protested against the NEET examination will be withdrawn. Further details will be announced shortly,” CM Vijay wrote.
