UPSC ESE 2025: Candidates can submit UPSC ESE 2025 application forms till November 22, 2024 on the official website, upsc.gov.in.
NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued the schedule for Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination 2025. As per the official notification, the UPSC ESE 2025 exam will be conducted on June 8, 2025 at various centres across the country. The exam will be held in two shifts- paper 1 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and paper 2 from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Candidates can check the UPSC ESE 2025 schedule through the official website, upsc.gov.in. Meanwhile, registrations for ESE 2025 are underway. Candidates can submit the UPSC ESE 2025 application forms till November 22, 2024. The application correction window will open from November 23 to 29, 2024.
UPSC ESE Paper 1 will consist of 200 mark questions, and Paper 2 will carry questions of 300 marks. Candidates qualifying the Preliminary exam will be shortlisted to appear for the main exam scheduled for August 10, 2025. The recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 457 vacancies in the department.
UPSC ESE 2025 Pattern: First shift (9:30 am to 11:30 am)
Paper-I: General Studies and Engineering Aptitude
- Type of Paper: Objective (Multiple Choice Questions)
- Marks: 200 marks
- Duration: 2 hours

Subjects: This paper tests candidates' knowledge in General Studies and their Engineering Aptitude. It typically includes topics such as:
- General Studies: Current affairs, economic and social issues, environmental and ecological concerns, and general science.
- Engineering Aptitude: Basic engineering concepts, logical reasoning, and analytical ability, along with numerical ability.

Second Shift (2 pm to 5 pm)
Paper-II: Discipline-Specific Paper
- Type of Paper: Objective (Multiple Choice Questions)
- Marks: 300 marks
- Duration: 3 hours

Subjects: In this shift, candidates from specific engineering disciplines (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication) are required to attempt their discipline-specific paper. The paper tests their technical knowledge in the chosen engineering branch. Some key points:
- Civil Engineering: Topics like structural analysis, fluid mechanics, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, and more.
- Mechanical Engineering: Topics like thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, and manufacturing processes.
- Electrical Engineering: Topics like electrical circuits, control systems, power systems, and electronics.
- Electronics & Telecommunication: Topics like communication systems, analog and digital electronics, signals and systems, etc.
