VIT students enrolled in the specialised course will have the opportunity to participate as interns at Volvo and apply for jobs.
NEW DELHI: Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has signed an agreement with the Volvo Group India to enhance automotive education in the country. Under the agreement, a specialised credit programme will be introduced within VIT's MTech programme. It will be designed to train students with the latest automotive industry technologies.
The agreement was signed between Volvo Group India managing director Kamal Bali and VIT registrar T Jayabarathi in presence of the institute’s chancellor G Viswanathan. The new course will provide MTech students with knowledge of industry technologies, practical skills, and comprehensive understanding of industry trends, best practices, and real-world challenges. The programme includes knowledge sharing opportunities which could include combined classes involving Volvo's technical experts along with VIT's faculty.
Students enrolled in the course will also have the opportunity to participate as interns at Volvo. Meritorious students can be potentially hired as post-graduate engineering trainees in Volvo. “These internships will allow students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting. Moreover, it will also enable them to kickstart their careers in the automotive sector,” the VIT said.
