Download NowNEW DELHI: West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has changed the West Bengal Class 12 curriculum for the academic session 2024-25. The board will discontinue three subjects – Punjabi, Gujarati and French – from this academic year while three new vocational subjects will be offered to students.
The three vocational subjects that WBCHSE will offer to WB Class 12 students are banking and financial services and insurance (BFSI), food processing and telecom (TELV). The board said it dropped Punjabi, Gujarati and French subjects due to the consistent low count of registered students in these (subjects) for the past few years.
Three new subjects
Students will be able to apply for three new subjects in the WB Class 12 board exam. The board will offer applied artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and science of well-being. Students can apply for these subjects by selecting the subject code APAI, CBST and SOW, respectively. It will conduct a theory exam for these subjects for 70 marks while 30 marks will be based on a practical test.
WBHSE has changed the marking scheme of three subjects. Students appearing for health and physical education will have to attempt a 70-mark theory question paper while the practical test will be for 30 marks. The theory and practical tests for music and visual arts will be for 50 marks each.
