AICTE issues new guidelines - PGDM-MBA colleges can admit candidates on basis of qualifying UG marks

NEW DELHI - All India Council for Technical Education has issued revised guidelines with regard to admission in the PGDM- MBA colleges and have stated that candidates could be offered admission on the basis of their qualifying UG marks. In wake of COVID 19, there are several states which are facing the brunt of the coronavirus due to which the entrance exam has either been postponed or are yet to be held. Speaking about the move, Prof. Rajeev Kumar, member secretary of the AICTE stated, “ The decision has been taken so that if the seats are left vacant in management institutes since the students were unable to appear for the exam, then on the basis of qualifying UG marks, they will be offered admission to fill the vacant seats .”
Objective of offering admission on the basis of Qualifying Marks
The primary aim of this move is to ensure that the interest of both the students as well as the institution are protected. This decision will be applicable only for the Academic Year 2020-21.
Preference to candidates who appeared for entrance examination
In the circular issued by the AICTE, it has also been categorically stated that first preference with regard to admission will be given to those candidates who had appeared for the entrance examination.

The state-level entrance exams which are yet to be held as they have been postponed are:

HPU MAT 2020
Meanwhile, the national level examinations such as CAT, XAT, CMAT have already been conducted for the academic year 2021. However, ATMA and MAT which happen multiple times in a year, this year they are being conducted in a home proctored manner in online mode. In the prevailing circumstances, if the candidate has not been able to appear for the exam, then the college will prepare a merit list in a transparent manner.
