BSEB opens dedicated grievance redressal centres in Patna and launches online portal with complaint tracking and SMS update facility
The Bihar school examination board (BSEB) on Tuesday launched dedicated enquiry-cum-grievance redressal centres to help students, parents and educational institutions resolve complaints related to examinations and board services more efficiently. The initiative was inaugurated by Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari at the board’s headquarters on sinha library road and at the academic building in Patna.
Alongside the centres, the Board also rolled out an online grievance portal at grievance.biharboardonline.com, where applicants can submit complaints and track their status digitally. Once a grievance is resolved, updates will be shared through SMS and the portal.
Addressing the gathering, Mithilesh Tiwari said the education department had been working towards building a stronger and more transparent grievance redressal system ever since he took charge as minister. He said the new arrangement would make it easier for students and the public to get timely solutions to their problems without unnecessary delays.

Separate counters for all exam-related issues
BSEB chairman Anand Kishor said the board had been instructed to make its services more transparent and accessible for students, parents and educational institutions. He added that the newly opened centres are aimed at ensuring complaints are addressed in a systematic and time-bound manner.
To streamline the process, the Board has created five separate counters for different categories of complaints. The first counter will handle issues related to Matric annual and compartment examinations, while the second counter will deal with Intermediate annual and compartment examination-related grievances.
The third counter has been designated for complaints linked to examinations such as STET, D.El.Ed, simultala residential school entrance examinations, competency tests and ITI language examinations. Academic matters including school affiliation, D.El.Ed affiliation and scholarship-related complaints will be handled at the fourth counter.

The fifth counter will look after all other board-related grievances, including administrative and pension-related matters. Officials said the aim is to resolve complaints within a fixed time frame and reduce the inconvenience faced by applicants.
Online tracking system introduced
According to the board, every complaint submitted at the centres will be assigned a unique reference number. This will allow applicants to track the status of their grievances both online and through SMS alerts.
Officials said complaints would be forwarded digitally to the concerned department or officer, making the process quicker and more transparent. The board believes the online tracking system will help applicants avoid repeated visits to offices for updates on their cases.

The board also said the centres are expected to serve as a single-window support system for students, parents and educational institutions seeking assistance on various issues. By bringing multiple services under one platform, the board hopes to make grievance handling more organised and efficient.
With the launch of both physical grievance centres and the online portal, the Bihar board aims to strengthen public service delivery and ensure faster resolution of examination and administrative issues across the state.
