CBSE has implemented three significant changes for the 2026 academic session to improve evaluation and reduce student stress.

• Two board exams for Class 10: Students will now have the opportunity to appear for the Class 10 board exams twice in a year, allowing them to improve their scores within the same academic session.
• On-screen marking for Class 12: CBSE has introduced on-screen evaluation for Class 12 answer sheets to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and transparency in the marking process.
• Class 10 question paper split: The Class 10 question paper format has been revised, with a clearer division of sections to better assess students’ competency, analytical ability, and subject understanding.

The CBSE Class 10 examination consists of an 80-mark theory paper with a duration of three hours, along with 20 marks allocated for internal assessment conducted by schools. The question paper includes 50% competency-based questions such as MCQs and case-based formats, 30% short and long answer questions, and 20% objective-type questions. Students must secure at least 33% marks in each subject to pass.

CBSE has introduced stricter penalties for students found using unfair means during the examination. If a candidate is caught cheating in any subject, their result for that subject will be cancelled, and the marks cannot be replaced using an additional subject.

Such candidates will be placed in the compartment category and will have to reappear for the affected subject to qualify. These revised rules will be implemented uniformly for all students appearing in the CBSE Class 10 board exams from 2026 onward.
