NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has successfully conducted the Class 12 Chemistry exam today, February 27. The CBSE Class 12 Chemistry paper was well-balanced and moderately difficult as per student reactions and analysis by teachers. The exam was held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The chemistry paper had 5 sections carrying a different weightage of marks. Section A was of 1 mark, section B was of 2 marks, Section C was of 3 marks, Section D was of 4 marks and Section E was of 5 marks.

According to Alka Kapur, Principal Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, the CBSE Class 12 Chemistry paper was balanced. "The Chemistry board exam presented a well-balanced assessment, maintaining a moderate difficulty level. The inclusion of direct definitions and reasoning questions from diverse chapters offered a comprehensive test of students' knowledge", she said.

Sharing section-wise analysis, the teacher added that the compulsory numerical questions in physical chemistry could benefit from some element of choice to cater to varying student strengths. The question paper overall was thoughtfully prepared, providing a fair evaluation of understanding across topics.

"As a teacher, I appreciate the emphasis on a holistic assessment approach, ensuring students apply their knowledge effectively. Feedback and analysis of today's exam reveal a positive experience for most students, highlighting the importance of continued refinement in exam design to foster a conducive learning environment", Kapur added.

For another teacher, Rakesh Kumar PGT Chemistry, MRIS Charmwood, Faridabad, the exam was similar to the CBSE sample papers and no questions were out of syllabus.

According to Kumar, most of the questions were directly from NCERT and numericals were easy to attempt. About 10% questions were tricky and required critical thinking. Multiple choice questions and Assertion/Reasons questions were notably challenging and required conceptual understanding. Overall, the exam exhibited a diverse difficulty range, encompassing both straight forward and moderately challenging aspects.

Paper was well balanced and contained a lot of content for scoring passing marks. However, it was a bit problematic for students who aim for perfect score, Kumar added. Students who appeared for the CBSE Class 12 Chemistry exam need to score minimum of 33% marks to pass the exam.
