CBSE to implement NCF for foundation stage from 2023-24 academic session
The NCF for foundational stage has been developed by the NCERT as per the directive of National Education Policy 2020.

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education, or CBSE will introduce the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCFFS) from 2023-24 academic session. Anurag Tripathi, Secretary, CBSE in a letter to all the heads of schools affiliated to CBSE and which offer education at foundational stage to the students of age group three to eight years to implement the NCF for foundational stage and the new structure of five-year education for Nursery to Class 2.
The NCFFS has been developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) as per the directive of National Education Policy 2020. "Schools offering foundational or preparatory education are advised to adhere to the recommendations regarding curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and other areas described in detail in the NCFFS-2022," reads an official statement.
The NCF-FS comprise of many illustrations and examples supporting its implementation. The new curriculum facilitates the clarification of abstract concepts, reinforces learning, and makes new ideas more accessible to teachers who are teaching actively.

"Myriad examples are aptly incorporated to enhance understanding, foster engagement, and elaborate concrete ways concepts can be implemented in day-to-day teaching. So, it is critical that teachers look at these illustrations and contextualize them according to the needs and contexts of children," it added.

Earlier on March 17, CBSE asked schools to start 2023-24 academic sessions from April 1, 2023. The board stated that it has noticed some of the affiliated schools started their academic session early in the year. Starting the academic session early leads to burnout of students.
