NEW DELHI : The second wave of COVID-19 cases have forced close to a dozen states to close schools, postpone board exams 2021 and cancel exams altogether for younger children. After review with PM Modi, Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the CBSE Class 10 exam 2021 has been cancelled and the CBSE Class 12 exam 2021 has been postponed. Education miniser Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the CBSE Class 10 students will be evaluated based on an "objective criteria". CBSE Class 12 exams will be held after a review by CBSE on June 1.

The Himachal Pradesh Government has postponed Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) Class 10 and Class 12 exams to May 17.

Telangana: Petition to TSBIE to cancel TS Inter 2021 and Class 10 SSC exams
An online campaign petitions the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education ( TSBIE ) to cancel the TS Inter 2021 and the Telangana State Secondary School Certificate Examination (TS SSC Board) to cancel the Class 10 (SSC) exams. The online petition has received over 14,000 signatures.

BHU issues COVID guidelines
The offices and departments of Banaras Hindu University will operate with 50% staff, the BHU administration said in a notice. The departments will prepare rosters to determine who will work from office. The work-from-home provision will be expanded and "classes will continue to be held in online mode"

COVID-19 and NEET-PG 2021
The administration of Surajpur, Chhattisgarh, has said that MBBS graduates whose period of service in the state is not over cannot write the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG 2021) because they will be need for COVID-duty. This move is being widely criticised by doctors on social media. The NEET PG admit card 2021 was released on April 13 and the exam is on April 18.

JNU to continue online classes
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) vice chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar has said that the varsity will continue the current semester in online mode and the admission process may start by the end of April. Kumar addressed students through Facebook Live on the state of affairs in the campus in the wake of rising coronavirus cases and said that university will take a decision to allow offline classes in the next academic session after reviewing the pandemic situation.

IIMA restricts movement as active COVID-19 cases rise to 98
The number of active cases at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad rose to 98 on Monday as it has has been hit with the second wave of pandemic. Karnataka: no online exam for higher classes
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister of Dr C N Ashwath Narayan has ruled out holding examinations online. Speaking after a meeting in view of the spurt in COVID-19 cases, Narayan said there was a demand from a section of students and parents to conduct the tests online.
