COVID-19 lockdown: Kendriya Vidyalayas to adopt NIOS online classes

NEW DELHI: Kendriya Vidyalays, or central schools, will follow the online lessons of National Institute of Open Schooling, or NIOS, to keep up the learning process of students during the COVID-19 lockdown.
NIOS will start classes for secondary and senior secondary students through recorded and live programmes on the SWAYAM PRABHA portal from April 7.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has directed school principals to ask teachers to sensitise students about online learning through social media, email and text messages.
An essential protocol has also been designed for the online classes to be conducted by the teachers.

KVS has nominated some selected teachers for live session conducted by NIOS on SwayamPrabha portal to address the queries of the students. It will be done through Skype and Live Web Chat.
The nominated teachers will prepare additional material and notes on the content broadcast in morning session of the same day so that the doubts of the learners could be clarified during the live sessions.
After that the teachers will recapitulate the content or transact the content through suitable teaching aids.
Schools across the country have been shut down and exams postponed or cancelled after the lockdown was declared from March 25 to April 14.
