NEW DELHI: Madhya Pradesh state board exams will be held only in 19 subjects after the lockdown imposed to control the spread of coronavirus is lifted.

Following the Central Board of Secondary Education’s decision last week, MP’s Madhyamik Shiksha Mandal announced on April 4 that it will not conduct the remaining board exams for Class 10 and 12 in any subject barring the 19.

The ones the board will hold exams for include Hindi, English and Sanskrit for Class 10 and biology, chemistry, higher mathematics, political science and economics for Class 12. The complete list is given below.

“The board will hold exams only in subjects which are essential for admission into higher education,” said the notification. “For subjects for which exams will not be held, evaluation and marking system will be decided separately.”

The board had announced it was postponing examinations as well as evaluation on March 25.

New dates after Lockdown

The board’s April 4 notification said it had taken this decision “to reduce the anxiety of the examinees set to appear for board exams in 2020 and their parents, and keeping in mind their future.”

The subjects students are not going to be tested on include biotechnology, physical education and range of skill-based courses. However, some exams not being held for the general students will be held for candidates who are differently-abled.

The notification also assured that the dates for the last board exams will be decided within 10 days of the lockdown being lifted and that the announcement will be on the board’s website.
